Seven panels telling the story of the village's colourful past were unveiled by Mr Howard. These panels are on display in the church.
Costumed villagers take part in the dedication
In a revival of an ancient custom the Rector, Roger Ellis, led the people of Newchurch as they “embraced” the village church by encircling it with a continuous circle of people holding hands. This gesture was followed by a service of dedication after which the history exhibition in the church was officially opened by the Rt Hon Michael Howard QC MP., and viewed by him with other dignitaries and visitors.
